About Us

mainpageimagestack.jpg
We started SailDawg so we could write about sailing, talk about sailing and not have to explain to our wives and friends why sailing takes up so much of our time. If you’re like us, you check the weather conditions each morning, you grab the West Marine mailer when it comes in the mail and you find every excuse to think about sailing or get to the boat.

Well, then you’re a Dawg which means you’re a friend, a mate, a buddy and once you complete your sign on, you’re a SailDawg.

The idea for SailDawg came after a gusty day of sailing on San Francisco Bay. As we were heading back to the dock, on my Catalina 30, it was easy to see that the sail cover on the furling jib had come loose. It needed stitching from top to bottom and I was planning to sail the very next weekend. So, I checked Latitude 38 and found an ad for a sail loft that specialized in repairing jib covers. I called that Monday, brought the sail in and had it back on Friday. The loft had completely restitched the cover, folded the sail and the price was very reasonable. I just wanted to tell somebody about the great service I received. If you have had an experience like this, then you are on your way to being a member of the SailDawg crew. That’s why we created the “Categories” section where you can rate and comment on a product, company or service that you have had experience with so other “Dawgs” will know about them.

Sailors come in all shapes and sizes along with their boats. You may have an El Toro in the garage or a boat big enough for a weekend hookup at your favorite mooring or you love to sail and have a plan to buy the perfect boat. SailDawg is here to raise the flag over sailing of all kinds and create the premier social networking site for sailors. Sign on and check back often.

We’ve designed this site based on a simple concept. Sailors love to talk about their boats, their experiences on the water, their racing, their cruising, well, they just love to talk. So, SailDawg is the place. The content will be user generated, timely and interesting. The DawgLog will be the place for upcoming events, big or small, special offers from companies and sailing events of interest from all over. You will be sending in items of interest that will be part of the DawgLog. So, check back often and see what’s happening in the SailDawg world of sailing.
