Dawg Log - Week 27
Take a Picture, Win a Charter
Horizon Yacht Charters was so delighted to have photos pouring into their in-boxes that they’ve decided to give away another seven-night charter on a 40-foot monohull (winner’s choice of any of their bases: BVI, Antigua, Grenada, St. Martin). The contest calls for images that “highlight your best charter memory.” The winning image was shot by Alberto Musazzi, of Milan, Italy, whose photo of a pink sunset in Barbuda is below.
Entries for the new contest will be accepted starting October 1, 2008, and the winner will be announced in May 2009.

2008 Singlehanded TransPacific Yacht Race
July 12 is the start for 2008 Singlehanded TransPacific Yacht Race: 2,120 miles across the Pacific, San Francisco to Hanalei Bay, Kauai. The fleet is arriving from all over the country. Of course, there are many SSS members in the Bay Area already.

Meet Jim Kellam
Meet Jim Kellam from Vancouver. We had the chance to sit aboard Jim’s boat, a Spencer 35 named Haulback, and hear some great sailing stories of his circumnavigation and his philosophy that the Singlehanded TransPacific is just an excuse to go sailing. Jim is berthed at Marina Village Yacht Harbor in Alameda where the harbor is hosting many of the out of town boats.
